The Grey Bruce Health Services Intranet site was developed to act as an on-line communication portal for all employees at each of the seven sites. The site is used to provide on-line access to the hospitals 50+ policy manuals. This new file management system also includes access to GBHS instruction manuals, memos, meeting minutes and newsletters. An on-line version of their 70 page phone book is also available. The Human Resources section features internal job postings, access to policies and contracts. Benefits of this system are numerous as it will provide a single point of access to file documents which will significantly cut down on paper records as well as save time and resources. The memos section of the site will eliminate mass emails that were frequently circulated to all 1400 employees.
Dragonfly Designs was asked to add additional capabilities and add new sections to expand the GBHS Intranet site.
A feature news flash area and feature department news were added to the home page so that staff can add news items and photos on a regular basis to keep the site fresh. Several additional sections were added including Pandemic Reference Centre, Library, Forms, Training and MSDS Sheets. An events calendar was implemented as well as a training calendar which is a great tool for employees. As the Memos section had grown very large a more robust search was needed so the capability to search by category, date and keyword was added. Similar search technology was used for the Forms section so that employees can search for forms using keywords or form numbers. The site continues to be a useful communication tool for employees of all 7 GBHS hospitals.
